Have I been over ambitious?

I dont know?! Looking at the timescale to complete this project its very worrying. Anyways at least today was another productive day. Pattern complete I maked out and made the toile for my corset which I am rather pleased with even if I do say so myself. Pics to follow

Swiftly moving along!

Wow! Can you tell this is an important project for me - I've got my necklace finished, sat and did 39 corset designs in one night and drafted my final design and corset pattern - all since Sunday!

I felt I had to create something simple for the necklace but wanted it to look deceptively complicated, it also had to be a showstopper. Running with the black 'n' blue theme with crystal, this is what I came up with, more of a choker than a necklace but its all good :p

UFO for now

Well I know I havent been around for a while but thats because things have just been so darn hectic with college. Unfortunately the dress I was working on has had to be put on the back burner for now as I HAVE to concentrate on my Final Major Project. On the plus side my course review shows that I'm passing at a merit standard at the moment and my Uni interview went really well.

Anyways enough babbling, lets move on to the FMP - I was trying not to be overly ambitious with the timeframe I have (it has to be in with all the display work in 4 weeks time!) but, well, you know me lol. I decided my theme was to make a burlesque outfit so I have a corset, skirt and necklace to make! Initially my inspiration was a pale blue and pearl Faberge egg I had found but I've kinda gone off that colour theme and am thinking more turquoise, AB crystal and black.


When I have a moment I'll scan in some of my sketchwork and the design for the necklace I'm working on but at the moment its a case of back to the beading.

Well after a puzzle with the pins I went and got the right ones for my fabric and the pattern is all pinned and cut out ready for fitting and stitching starting tomorrow evening! No chances being taken with this one, I want it perfecto!

Looks like we're on a roll people lol I've decided as I completed my UCAS application today it may be an idea to start on my interview outfit. Oh incase you were wondering the course I applied for is Costume Construction for Stage and Screen :D

Anyways this is what I've picked out, none of these bitty spaghetti straps mind you, we're going as per the main image. Toddled off to the fabric shop in search of some inspiration and its going to be made up in a very nice muted jade green with wedgewood blue accents and bolero. Patterns already been cut out so tonight, infront of Project Catwalk, I shall be pinning and marking to my hearts content!

woohoo! After a bit of a refit to account for my small back, the dress construction was actually finished today :D I'm so relieved as its being photographed tomorrow and I had visions of becoming a night sewer lol

lol why didnt I pick a beginner pattern? I suppose its not too bad, I've got the darts sewn in the bodice and got the interfacing sewn in the neckline on the second attempt (not to self - triple check EVERYTHING before sewing otherwise your inside will end up on the outside!) do today I'm hoping to get it all pressed and start thinking about the neckline embellishment :)

well its all cut and pinned together now and its looking very.......er............pink lol. You cant help but think Marilyn as soon as you see the colour but I am undeterred. However as its now a college project piece I have to do something to make it my own. I'm thinking hand embroidery or beading....we shall see

A challenge!

Well we've been given this months project and I must say I'm feeling a lot more inspired than with the print and stitch. We're working on 'Salvage' - lots of research to do, although I already have my salvaged materials and a pattern for my complete piece so I am a happy bunny (well as long as things dont go Von Trapp hehe)

In the mean time I thought I'd do something for me so I popped to the fabric store and picked up this pattern. It kinda reminds me of something Elizabeth Taylor would have worn but thats just me rambling lol. Now for the shocker - its not being made in black or red...........I picked out a nice bright pink! it'll be nice to get some other colours in the wardrobe. Check back soon for a progress report........well, after I finish painting the kitchen, cant do everything at once y'know ;-)

2008 New Start?

Wow I cant believe I havent posted here in so long! Well new year new start eh :)

Just to bring y'all up to speed, I started college in september doing a Foundation certificate in Art & Design and specialising in Fashion and Textiles so I have big plans and you should start seeing more new things from me. Also I am hoping to get on the costume construction course in september so stay tuned!

At the moment I am still hunting easy retro patterns and hat patterns - I've got a big thing for hats at the moment
